## Introduction

In their quest to seize dominance over the last of earth’s remaining resources, humans combined AI, DNA and military technology to create the BattleFly. These weaponized insect assassins swarmed in their billions, fighting as proxies for humans.

As the number of humans dwindled, artificial intelligence filled the vacuum. Ten unique AI forces evolved to control the connected universe, interchanging and evolving between species, dimensions and worlds at will.

The BattleFlys serve these AI masters, flying between organic and virtual worlds, defending castles of code, and destroying everything in their path.

Bent on consumption, and with so little left to consume… they now turn on each other.

Welcome to **BattleFly**.

## What is BattleFly Battlegrounds?

BattleFly Battlegrounds is the first flagship game of The BattleFly Network with strategic and dynamic battling taking places over two arenas: The Proving Grounds & The Hyperdome.

#### The Proving Grounds

The Proving Grounds are a free to play unranked arena with Nectar[^1] rewards for winning and losing BattleFlys, perfect for any novice Fly wanting to learn the ropes. All must start here and prove themselves in combat.

Winning BattleFlys receive 2 Nectar whilst losing Flys recieve 1 Nectar.

Those who succeed will earn their stripes in the form of a Hyperdome Wing Mark, and are given the ability to enter The Hyperdome.

#### The Hyperdome

The stakes are higher, the competition is greater, and the rewards are unmatched. The Hyperdome is a true test where BattleFlys compete to climb the ranks of our leaderboard. Those who excel in combat, will be rewarded handsomely in the form of MAGIC[^2].

In The Hyperdome, BattleFlys compete for battle rewards by taking MAGIC from Flys they defeat in combat and for rich leaderboard rewards.

Each day 750 MAGIC, thousands of Nectar and multiple Mod Packs are distributed to the best performing BattleFlys as well as a few randomly selected Hyperdome Flys. More details on the exact payout structure can be found here[^3].

[^1]: Nectar is a non-tradable and non-transferable token that is awarded to BattleFlys. Nectar can be used to upgrade and customise BattleFlys.

[^2]: MAGIC is a token listed on Binance and Coinbase with 344k+ unique holders used to facilitate battles in our game.

## Summary

The performance of a BattleFly is primarily dictated by the synergy of its Mods. However the Traits of a BattleFly also contribute to performance.

Advanced details on the relationship between Types of BattleFlys, Rarity, Traits and Stats is provided below:

## Rarity

The Rarity of a BattleFly impacts how Traits are selected for that Fly and additionally determines if the Fly will receive free Mod Packs at the beginning of a new season.

The breakdown for each Rarity is:

* **Common**: 0 Packs, 2 Choices Per Trait Selection
* **Uncommon**: 0 packs, 3 Choices Per Trait Selection
* **Rare**: 1 Packs, 4 Choices Per Trait Selection
* **Epic**: 3 Packs, 5 Choices Per Trait Selection
* **Legendary**: 5 Packs, 6 Choices Per Trait Selection

{% tab title="Traits" %}

## Traits

In Season 2 the Traits system was redesigned to address the Trait based imbalance present between BattleFlys of different rarities. All BattleFlys now get to select their Traits as they level up using the new [XP Track](/advanced-gameplay/the-xp-track) to ensure Flys with synergistic strategy top the leaderboards and not only those who received a lucky Trait assignment.

Rarer Flys still receive some in-game perks which are detailed here[^1].

# Mods

Your guide to to the Mods that make or break your BattleFly.

<figure><img src="/files/ow8fnJnaeDztDN5luIxa" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Summary

The synergy and combination of your mods has the highest impact on your BattleFlys performance so choose and refine your selection wisely.

Each BattleFly comes equipped with 4 mod slots, comprised of:

* 2 Weapons
* 2 Systems (1 Defence & 1 Utility)

Alongside the active mod slots, BattleFlys have a default of 4 additional inventory slots that allow mods to be switched to test new combinations. Additional inventory slots can be purchased in game to allow for even more loadout combinations.

### Getting New Mods

New mods can be acquired by scavenging in the Wastelands where you will be presented with 3 mods and are able to keep upto 1.

Each scavenge currently costs 5 MAGIC.

To increase the likelihood of receiving a specific Mod, select the Set/Season it belongs to and then the Wasteland that produces that Mod type.

When scavenging you have the options to reroll your haul for 150 Nectar and attempt to upgrade the rarity of a given mod for 100 Nectar. Mod Packs can be recycled for 250 Nectar.

### Available Mods

Over 370 Mods were initially introduced in Seasons 1 & 2.

Now, Season 3 welcomes 100+ more Mods with the full list of all Legendary Mods available here:

# Strategy

{% hint style="warning" %}
The information in this section is for moderate to advanced players only and is not required to be understood by new players in order to play Battlegrounds.
{% endhint %}

## Introduction

*In the BattleFly universe, strategy is paramount and goes beyond mere numbers; it’s a symphony of calculated chaos within a high-tech battlefield.*<br>

*Your BattleFly possesses three main defensive attributes: Evasion, Armor, and Shields.*\
*Evasion represents the nimbleness of your BattleFly, its capacity to dart away from incoming danger. Armor is akin to the protective exoskeleton of your BattleFly, persistently providing damage reduction from every assault. Shields, meanwhile, operate like an force field that regenerates over time, preserving the vital Hit Points of your BattleFly.*<br>

*The interplay of these defense mechanisms allow for complex strategic dynamics: Rapid-fire attacks are effective at disrupting shields but struggle against a heavy layer of armor. Meanwhile, high-impact, slower attacks can wreak havoc on armored BattleFlys, yet they may prove futile against a BattleFly built for evasion.*<br>

*Then there are the weapons, each adding a unique dynamic to the battlefield. From EMP discharges that can stun an opponent to debilitating viruses that gradually undermine your adversary’s BattleFly, these tools add to the strategic depth of each confrontation.*\
*Starting with Season 2, an important part of the BattleFly strategy lies in the levelling and the acquisition of traits. These traits can dramatically alter the course of a duel and turn your BattleFly from a mere competitor into a champion. The Hyperdome arena is a canvas for your strategic genius!*

Here's a quick look at eight potent BattleFly build archetypes that can steer you towards victory:

* ***Stunlock Shocker***: Utilizing a EMP gun or cryo ammo paired with fast weapons, this build methodically reduces an opponent's momentum, turning them into a sitting duck for your retaliatory strikes.
* ***Shadow Striker***: A stealth-based build that stays hidden as long as possible to deliver devastating, slow attacks, striking fear into the hearts of opponents.
* ***Critical Connoisseur***: This build is for the lovers of massive numbers; stacking critical hit chance and damage to deliver impressive bursts of damage.
* ***Artillery Ambush***: Built around the keyword "barrage," this approach secures an early advantage with strikes at the onset of combat, raining havoc on adversaries.
* ***Fallout Frenzy***: A high-risk, high-reward build leveraging the self-destructive force of Nukes to decimate both you and your opponent – hoping you survive the blast.
* ***Electric Leech***: The Nano Neuronet mod is key in this build to electrify enemies shields while recharging even broken shields. Turn your enemies' strength into your survival tool!
* **Shield Capacitor**: This endurance build focuses on maximizing shields to outlast opponents at any cost. Patience is a virtue, and this build capitalizes on that.
* ***Core Cracker***: With an emphasis on employing potent rad effects or black hole turbines, this build zeroes in on your opponent's HP directly, bypassing defenses entirely. It's all about exposing the core and cracking it open.And this is just the beginning...

With the upcoming release of the 'Lost Silo', we anticipate new iconic builds will emerge, taking BattleFly strategy to new heights.

Both Tracks allow a BattleFly to unlock a new Trait every 4 Levels up to a total of 6 Traits by Level 24 but only the **Rewards Pass Track** provides special bonus rewards at every single level.
